Hi Brad,
I'm glad you were able to find the fix through FAQ #43. I can't say
what cause the original crash, but having a good backup system in
place is *always* a good plan. There have also been some recent
reports of trouble with the Norton Office Plug-in causing some
project file problems of late.
I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

This is my first time using this site. After posting my question,
I read
other similar discussion threads. I tried Project FAQ #43, Method
4 and it
worked. I am using the new file. Still don't know what happened,
but back
in business.

I was modifying an .mpp file in Microsoft Project 2003. The
application
froze and I had to force it to close. After closing, I tried to
reopen the
file and received the following error message:
"The operation cannot be completed because the source file
contains invalid
project data or the total number of rows would exceed the limit
of 1,048,000
rows in a project. Validate the data in the source file, insert
fewer rows,
or consider dividing your project into subprojects to provide
more space for
tasks and resources."
How do I open the file to validate it or remove rows? I cannot
get the file
to open at all.
