Hi Sean,
You lost me a bit on resolving back to the global address books and
reading it as plain text -- but I got enough to understand it isn't
working as you'd like.
If you add resources to the resource *** through Insert > New
Resource From > Address book, do you still see the double issue?
Again, in testing I am not seeing what you report -- also running
Project 2003 SP-3 and Outlook 2003 SP-3.
I am sending as a "Schedule note" not attaching the file, but I
don't think that should matter.
I wish I could be more helpful -- I can't even begin to suggest
where things may be going off. I'm assuming sending other files
(Word, Excel, etc.) work as expected?

Hi Julie, thanks for answering my post.
I've tested it a few times and unfortunately, the double-name
issue happens
even when the Project Manager is not selected, and does not match
the Project
Manager's name.
My problem with the GAL is that the pasted full e-mail address
automatically
resolves to the name while in Project. When Project goes to read
the
address, the name is not resolved back to the GAL and it reads it
plain text,
as if it should be the e-mail address... if you catch my drift.
Thanks again for your attention. I appreciate your assistance.

Hi Cleffer,
Is the person whose name shows up twice the Project manager as
well as a
resource? If you look at the check boxes for the send mail, it
automatically
sends to both the Project manager (as defined in Tools > Options,
General
tab) and to any resource assigned. So, if the creator of the
file (PM) is
also a resource, his/her name will appear twice in the To: line.
I've just tested with a GAL and even though the address is Last
Name, First
name in the GAL after asking to confirm it does work.
I have had the most reliable results however, when copying the
actual email
address (someone@xxxxxxxxxx) into the email address field in the
Resource
***.
I hope this helps.

Project 2003, SP3. Outlook 2003, SP3
I have a customer who is attempting to contact people assigned
to projects
locally through Outlook 2003 using a Global Address List (GAL.)
We currently have a few Resources set up but are running into
problems when
attempting a File-->Send To-->Mail Recipient (As A Schedule
Note) in Project.
After permission is granted for Project to access Outlook, one
of two things
occurs:
1. The user's name appears twice on the To: dialog of the
e-mail.
2. The user's name does not resolve correctly from the GAL.
Everything past
the comma is ommitted. For example Doe, John H resolves to John
H in the To:
dialog of the e-mail.
Resource addresses that are configured manually with the actual
address outside the GAL work fine. E-mail address configured
manually inside
the GAL resolve to the user's GAL name and repeat issue two
above.
I have tried several e-mail configurations in the resource
area, however no
matter how I configure it (with commas, without commas, last
name first,
first name first) the address will not resolve with the GAL
when sending.
- Is there a way to stop the name from appearing twice in the
To: dialog?
- Is there a way to get Project to recognize the GAL when
attempting to send
a task?
Thanks for your help!
