Have you asked in a more appropriate newsgroup as I suggested? This will greatly increase your chances of finding an expert in your area. The experts in your area are almost certainly not reading this group.
The sooner you see an expert the better. The chances of recovering a document deleted in 2005 are probably not high I'm afraid.

Hi Dave, thank you for your time. The doc I am looking for, was created by my husband in 2005...It was an agreement to agree. A post nuptual if you will. He deleted in 2005, and the attorney battle ensued. So, 21/2 years later, I am trying to pull this out of the computer. I have been told that it is still there. After your e mail, I see that I need an expert. The custody of my children could depend on this lost document. If you have any suggestions on where to go with the tower, I live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. Clearwater....Thanks Dave. I so appreciate your time. The document appears seven times when I click Start an my documents, but the screen is blank. KO KO.

Simple instructions please, I am just a novice computer user...THANK YOU! this lost doc is for my custody battle, and divorce,,,, KoKo please respond to koko9959@xxxxxxxxxxxYou are in the wrong newsgroup for this question. You really need to find a newsgroup dealing with the particular operating system you are using.
However, given the apparent importance of it, you should look in the recycle bin in the first instance if it simply was deleted (depending on how it came to be deleted).
Secondly, you probably should not open Word because it may have timed autosaving turned on which could overwrite the contents if you are not craeful. If you must open open Word, try to make a copy of the document first (click on it then <CTRL-C> followed by <CTRL-V>. If you do that and Word opens, the document may appear in the most recently used file list (at the bottom of the File menu). Similarly, does the document appear in the documents list which is accessible from the Start menu.
There are tools that you can use for more sophisticated recovery and undeletion requirements but you may wish to take your computer to an expert to avoid exacerbating the problem.
Finally learn from it. You don't have a back-up? What was your plan if your computer broke (as it surely will one day) or got stolen?
