John,

Thanks for the follow up ... yes, I wish I was a VBA person ... getting data
out of Project can be pretty cryptic and I'd like for the reports to be a lot
more "friendly".

What's the best resource you're aware of to learn about MS Project 2003/07
report functionality? Also, do you know if you can link a project plan to
Access and then use the report functionality in Access?

Jerry

Jerry,
You're welcome. Since pre-2007 versions of Project don't really have
very flexible reporting capabilities, other than through VBA, there
isn't any resource I could recommend. As far as the Visual Reports
utility in Project 2007, there is of course the Project help file and
there is also a very good book on Project 2007 put out by fellow MVPs
Dale Howard and Gary Chavetz. For more info on Dale and Gary's book,
"Ultimate Learning Guide to Microsoft Office Project 2007", visit
msprojectexperts.com. On the same website is a link to fellow MVP, Rod
Gill's book on "VBA Programming for Microsoft Office Project".

With regard to using Access, yes Project files can be saved in .MPD
format and opened using Access. All the reference information for
querying a Project database can be found in the prjdb.htm file, (or
pjdb.htm depending on which version of Project you are using), on your
hard drive.

Hope this helps.
