Re: How do I save a project as a PDF document

Hi Julie,
Look at some of the other conversations in this group. Saving 2007 as 2003
creates files htat can not be opened by the people I work with. I am suing
Office Enterprise nad project Professional and it is definitely not a trial
version.

There is a simple solution. MS needs to allow Project 2007 to work in a
compatibility mode with Project 2003 files. MS Word 2007 does this.

I will need to reinstall 2003.
Thanks,

Hi Gary,

I'm afraid I don't have a "definitive" answer either -- but let's start
with the first questions - are your users of Project 2003 running SP-2?

Are you using a trial version of Project 2007?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie,

Unfortunately I still have this problem. I am running Project 2007
Pro, and
when I save as an 00-03 format, no one (regardless of whether they
running 03
Pro or Standard) can open the file. They get the popup asking them to
download a converter, which brings them to the MS page saying the
converter
won't be available until Q4 07.

Any ideas? I have seen posts about this in the past, and it seems
that it's
fairly random in terms of who is having this issue and who is not.
There
hasn't been any sort of definitive answer.

Thanks
Gary

Hi Gary,

You're welcome and thanks for the feedback. To your question about
Project 2007 files saved as 2003 files, I run both versions (one in a
virtual PC) and I've not seen any problems with opening the files in
2003. You mention that users cannot open the file -- any error
messages
displayed?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanks Julie. You know, in Project 07 I searched help on "save as
pdf" and
it brought me to the Project Help screen where it told me I could
download
the save as pdf plug in from MS. Then you are right, that plug in
does not
support Project. Why the link to plug is provided in Project is
another
question that I can't answer.

Related question since you're a Project whiz: When I save down to
Project
2000-2003 format, people using Project 2003 can't seem to open the
file.
It's not a single user issue, many people that I send these files
to
can't
open them. Any thoughts?

Hi Gary,

Unless you have found a download that I am unaware of, the 2007
Microsoft Office Add-in Save as PDF, does not apply to MS Project.
It
is not one of the 8 programs listed at the bottom of the download
page.

Did you find another download?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

I have downloaded the MS Save as PDF add-in for MS Project, yet I
still
cannot print to a pdf option - the "pdf" option isn't there when
I
got
to
print. Ideas? Please note I did successfully download the save
as
pdf for
word, and that works just dandy. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi,
On the Internet (Google), try to find a PDFwriter. Some of
them

Install it. It works like a printer : File / Print and select

printer.
Hope this helps,
