Hi Derek,
You're most welcome and thanks for the feedback. To your question of
"tricks", I'm afraid I don't know of one off the top of my head. The
work-around I posted has been posted on this site several times, but
trying to find it can be challenging .

Hi Julie
That does exactly what I want. Thanks very much. Is there a site which
collects tricks like this where I could search next time? I tried a
general
web search and searching this forum (with several different sets of
words)
but, obviously, didn't find this method.
Thanks again.
Derek.

Hi DWD,
A work-around that has been used in the past that may work for you:
Create a new calendar where the only working time in the calendar is
for
one minute sometime after your default working time. (For example if
your working time is defined as 08:00 to 17:00, create the new
calendar
with 17:01 to 17:02 as working time.)
Assuming your "training" task has a predecessor - task A. Insert a
task
between Task A and your "training" task and ensure the link is A >
new
task > training task. Set the duration of the new task to one
minute.
Assign the new calendar to the new task. That task will always be
scheduled for 17:01 to 17:02 forcing the successor training task to
start the next working day at 08:00
I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

I'm sure this must have been discussed before but Ican't figure out
how to do
this.
I'm working on a development project which includes as a 'task'
training the
users. This should will take a day and should, obviously, be
scheduled
as a
whole day, i.e. Project shouldn't break it down in 8 hours and
schedule it
for 2-5pm on Friday and 8-1pm on Monday!
How do I specify that a single day task should not span days or,
more
generally, that a task should align with day boundaries?
As I said, I'm sure this must have come up before since 'Scheduling
a
Conference' is a classic example project and most conferences
expect
to start
at 9am Day 1 and run to 5pm on Day X, rather than start and stop at
arbitrary
times.
Regards
.
