Re: Task Dependency

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi Omar,

Sorry, I don't use any form of instant messaging -- too much going on
through email, cell phones, land lines, pagers etc. to add another
communication method
;-)

None the less, I'll see if I can offer any additional help to you through
this forum.

I understand that you have multiple project files all feeding into a master
project file. You don't say whether the master project is created through
the Insert>Project command or whether you have created a master project by
sharing resources from a resource pool.

If you have created the master using Insert>Project into a master, what you
are seeing (I assume) is that the baseline for the Inserted Project Summary
tasks (line representing each inserted project) is not baselined. If you
show all tasks in the inserted project, each task from the project should
have a baseline if you saved it before creating the master project. To
check for baseline easily, apply the Baseline table through View> Table >
More Tables and select the baseline table from the list.

Although you have baseline information for the Project Summary task in each
project file, when you consolidate projects, the Inserted Project Summary
tasks is created "on the fly". You can select the Inserted Project Summary
tasks in the master project and save a baseline. (Tools>Tracking> Save
baseline. To create the baseline only for the Inserted Project tasks,
select "Selected Tasks" and choose to "Roll up Baselines: to all summary
tasks." This will save the baseline for the Inserted Project Summary tasks
as well as save the baseline for the Project Summary task for the
Consolidated Project. If you don't wish to baseline the master project
summary task, just keep the Roll up Baselines options unselected.

I hope this helps somewhat. Let us know how you are doing and please
continue to post to this thread if you have further questions.

Julie
