Fortunately the hard part of doing this has already been done.
Go to my website and download the "Trace" macro.
Cut and paste it into your global.mpt file.
Now go to the gantt view and select the task you want to trace predecessors
and successors to.
Run the macro and follow the prompts.
This will give you a filtered view of all tasks which are connected.
Now switch to the network diagram.
>From the project menu select filtered for, then find the _trace filter.
Apply it.
You should be able to run the macro from the network diagram view, but
unfortunately there is a line of code which selects the original task after
the filtering is done, and it expects to see a gantt view. If you comment
that line out (put an ' in front of the line) it should work.

track all the way to the beginning of the schedule and all the way to the
end of the schedule. I need this to be displayed in a network diagram. I've
tried the split screen with the Gantt on the top and the network diagram on
the bottom. I've gone backwards and forwards and highlighted the tasks and
it did a beautiful job......but there are 70 some-odd preds and succs for
this task and it's getting to be very cumbersome. This isn't the only task
I need to do this on.
