My bet is that you're asking about "Unique ID" but you're actually seeing (&
referencing) the "ID" field.

The UniqueID is a number assigned when the task is added, and is NEVER
changed (though it may get reported slightly differently for consolidated /
inserted projects).

The ID is simply an index in the list of tasks that gets changed whenever
tasks get added, deleted or permanently re-sorted.
