Task Tab Issues in Project Server 2003

I just installed Project Server and am having a couple of issues with the
configuration of the task tab. First, when a resource clicks on the task
tab to view their tasks, it defaults to Gantt Chart view instead of the
Time*** view. As an administrator, how can I change this?

Second, the only fields the resources can update is the Remaining Work field.
They cannot type in their actual work in the right section for the daily
basis. It is set to report progress on "Hours of work done per day" but it
won't let anyone type in their actuals. Any suggestions?
