In order for this to work, you first need to delete the connection as you
did, then rename the web site, itself, then enter the new URL to connect to
it. Don't do this. Unfortunately, the links to the SharePoint site through
the Issues, Risks and Documents pages in Project Server are constructed by
the system and not pulled from the database. In other words, you'll break
all these links.
