Hotmail, smtp.live.com and PPC 2003se

I am really starting to hate Microsoft.

For years I have accessed my hotmail on my HP iPaq rx3715 (PPC2003se)
using the HTTP provider from Adrian. Now that M$ has discontinued DAV
access, HTTP is "forbidden." So I am now using the POP3/smtp combo
which totally sucks:

1) The pop server is slower than my dead grandmother. If I have 5 e-
mails, it takes 10 seconds or more to download just the 2k snippet of
each one. By comparison, I can download the 2k snips of about 30 e-
mails in the same amount of time using Gmail's pop server.

2) M$ in its unholy alliance with cell phone carriers has made
smtp.live.com so it "pushes" your outgoing e-mails to your carrier's
smtp server so your carrier can charge you for each outgoing e-mail if
they want (and undoubtedly M$ gets a kickback on this). Problem here
is that those of us using stand-alone PDA's on wifi cannot send e-mail
at all. Why? Because cable companies do not accept the "pushed" e-
mails.

So I can explicitly set my outgoing mail to smtp.charter.net but then
when I am work I have to change it to smtp.hostcentric.com. Worse
still, I would have to set it yet again if I'm at Starbucks, again for
Panera, and again for any hotel with wifi I might be staying at.

Plus, because it's POP, I can only access the hotmail inbox. Using
HTTP I was able to sync all my folders.

I doubt M$ will be issuing a "pocket connector" anytime soon. So what
I'm hoping is that someone out there knows of a plug-in similar to
Adrian's "HTTPMail provider" that will work with DeltaSync. The only
other option I see is to set my hotmail account to forward all mail to
my Gmail which I can then access using IMAP.
