Re: How do I transfer my PPC programs and data to an identical PPC?

So the backup and restore isn't going to preserve registry settings, and
there are hidden and system files I am not backing up?
I thought the whole backup routine was in case the battery died and
everything was lost except the OS, a situation I've never had to test.
Do I have to tweak the Backup utility to back up the registy and hidden and
system files?

I suspect the symptoms relate to the battery failing... one way to check
this is to use the device hooked up to the ac or 12v adapter... if the
problems disappear, time for a new battery.

Depending on your (or a friend's) tech skills, consider backing up the
registry. It's relatively easy to find and export the registry entries
for specific programs and build an import file which will preserve program
settings when you switch to a new device and import them.

Same thing with the files... turn on hidden and system files in file
explorer and make backups of your main memory for future use. If you
switch card types, remember to do the same when copying files from one
card format to the other.

Hope this Helps
