Hi

I have been trying in vain to configure my Dell Axim X5 (WM2003) with the
Enfora GSM0110 Compact Flash GSM modem with my sim from Three UK which came
supplied with the Three USB Broadband Modem.

I can find no reason why this SIM shouldn't be usable with the Enfora but the
default WM2003 dial-up wizard only allows input of the dial-up number (*99#)
and the user name and password (which I believe should be blank or guest and
guest - neither works). In the advance settings I am inputting the extra dial-
string modem commands as follows

+cgdcont=1,"IP","three.co.uk" and the rest of the settings as advised by
Enfora's guide.

I'm not familiar with the Enfora, but earlier cards didn't work in WM2003 without special dialing apps to handle the settings. A quick Google search shows that the Enfora comes with a program called BVRP Mobile Phone Tools. Generally these CF card makers don't toss $50 apps in unless you need them!

I am unable to connect with those settings. I note from Three that CHAP
authentication is needed for connecting and the WM2003 wizard shows no security
settings options.

IIRC, those settings are in the Phone Edition devices, but not standalone PPCs. (Those settings should probably be handled by the card driver, not the PPC, I assume.)

Is there any third party dialer software that will allow configuration of CHAP
security on a connection to this modem? Or is there a way of making the
existing wizard configure the security settings? Or is it possible the SIM
cannot be used outside the USB modem? It does work in a Three contract phone.
I am fairly convinced it is simply an authentication issue.

BVRP is now "AvanQuest.com"- you might try the trial version of their Phone Tools software and see if it works.

Good luck!
