Re: Microsoft Voice Command of ATT 8525 Mobile 6

As Mark mentioned, there is a problem with the Bluetooth stack on the 8525.
HTC did not use the MS stack on this device. There is a problem with the
stack they did use, where the audio gateway will not work if the audio
gateway extension handler is replaced. This means Voice Command cannot
install it's own extension handler which prevents the proper activation of
Voice Command from a Bluetooth hands-free device.

The problem can be partially worked around by configuring the HTC audio
gateway extension handler to activate Voice Command. This can be done by
editing the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand] registry key and
changing the "path" value to "\Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCmd.exe".

This should allow Voice Command to be activated by Bluetooth hands-free
devices. The remaining problem is that the audio gateway will time out after
10 seconds rather than wait for the end of the speech interaction (as the
Voice Command extension handler would). I'm not aware of a workaround for
this remaining problem.

Also, regarding the size question, the base size of the Voice Command
application should be about 4MB. Additional memory is required for the
contact and music grammars as was mentioned in a previous post.

It is my experience that VoiceCommand does not work with the 8525 (HTC TyTN
I) and Bluetooth hands-free devices. We were unable to get the application
to receive commands via the device. Research stated the fault lies with the
Bluetooth stack used by MS.

1- I noticed it is recommended to be installed in device memory, not
storage card. How much memory does it occupy?

2- On the Voice Speed Dial in Mobile 5 or Mobile 6 upgrade, I can launch
programs like 'Notes' but not files like 'groceries'. Does Microsoft Voice
Command allow a file to be launched other than music selections?
