Just look at the Kaiser forum at XDA-Devs: it's full of VERY angry and
furious people because of the problems and the bugs, which is
diametrically opposed to the purple, "everything is just great" world of
most reviews. This was not the case after the release of the Wizard or the
Universal, which had much better firmware, which definitely shows it's not
the users that should be blamed for whining without reason, but HTC has
indeed made some severe mistakes at not optimizing the firmware (and
adding a not very good camera, I'd add).

It's still much better than the lower res camera on earlier models and as
you say firmware (which can be upgraded for free in due course) has alot to
do with things. Could it be that one reason why so many people in the
developer forums are commenting, is that the TyTN II appeals to
proportionally more technically savvy people than the other high spec models
ever did and if there's more owners, it follows that there'll be more
comments. They don't need to take desperate measures like bundle microSDHC
cards etc to move them because they're already flying out the shops as is.

As far as the camera hardware is concerned, I know manufacturers prefer
NOT to put in all the goodies, the best hardware etc. to a given model so
that they will be able to force their customers to continuously upgrade to
newer models when they're out. However, with the competition (the other
PPC manufacturers not just re-branding HTC's stuff like Toshi, Asus and
i-Mate - let alone Nokia with their really kick-b*tt Nokia N95 line) being
REALLY strong, HTC too should pay more attention to this if they want to
keep their customers.

Is that the same kick-b*tt N95 being bundled with 8 GB microSDHC cards (at
least in the UK) thats still not running Windows Mobile yet... Each to his
own I'd say! We agree that new code is required for the TyTN II (although in
fairness mines been very stable and usable with the functions I do use,
except for HSDPA 'grinding to a halt' performance). When that happens I just
disable it and fall back on 3G, I also wonder if it's my network to blame.
I'm sure that when the bugs have been ironed out and HTC are ready to
release it, we'll get it. That's how I'd like it (rather than them rushing
and missing things).
