internet explorer - windows mobile 5 very slow and disconnection

In my company we have developed a web application (Java/Struts) which
runs on internet explorer / windows mobile 5, and which uses so the
GPRS connection. The pb is that the pages are very slow (from 30s.to 2
min.) and that nerves greatly users (and only on the Pocket PC not on
the PC).
Other pb : it disconnects if we don't use the Pocket PC during a few
minutes (and yet only on the Pocket PC not on the PC).
Someone would have several solutions (the pages are very light:
average 5 kb) ?
- Opera ?
- WM6 ?
- Rewrite stand-alone application ?
