One finger contact search, ike Palm!

Palm had it spot on and this is the one feature I miss on my HTC Touch. Does anyone know of an app that will replicate this for a handhelp PC?
Not sure what I'm talking about? Once in contacts, rock the centre button right and a search would start on the first letter, rock down and it would fast scroll through the alphabet. Once on the correct letter rock right and it would scroll through the second letter and as you increased the number of letters so the search focused on the options.
Surely there's something out there that'll do this???
