No, he's mad because he has to buy new software to make Vista compatible
with his PPC!

Pocket PCs are bundled with Outlook because it's a necessary component of
syncing, not because MS was feeling generous.

MS bundles older "obsolete" copies of Outlook with PPCs, so as to not
cannibalize sales of more modern versions.

Then, Microsoft releases Vista with a new sync engine (WMDC) to replace
the Vista-incompatible Activesync, yet Vista is also incompatible with
the versions of Outlook bundled with many PPCs (2000 and 2002), leaving
them, in effect,
with nothing to sync to!!

Arguably, for MS to claim Vista is compatible with PPCs (another MS
product!), Vista should either be compatible with the software included
with the PPC OR include a functionally equivalent replacement.
Activesync (included with the PPC), for example, isn't Vista compatible,
so Vista includes WMDC. Unfortunately, Vista includes no PPC-compatible
alternative for Outlook 2002.

maybe you should have read the specs a little closer on the version
of office you were buying.

Again, PPCs include a licensed copy of Outlook as part of their purchase
price. If Vista can't use (or replace) that copy, it's not "PPC
compatible."

"they are just asking home users to go elsewhere for their software --
Apple Mac's look good!"
good luck getting your Axim to sync with mac without buying more
software too.

While that's true, it's also expected. A PPC is supposed to come with
everything it needs to sync with a Windows machine!
