Here's two more things that are extemely annoying in WM5. They both
involve manueving on your PPC, so there may be variances as per each
device....

1.) The speed dial and call history functions - I used to be able to
press the green call button and then take my 6515 joystick and move it
left. I would immediately get my speed dial list. I would move it
right, and get my call history. This was with WM2003 speed-dial.

On my WM5 T-Mobile MDA (HTC Wizard), "up" gives me speed dial, and "down"
is history. (Left and right on my device are inbox and contacts, BTW.)

To the best of my knowledge, the phone app behavior is device specific,
not OS specific.

Now, I
have the HP 6925 w/ WM5 and while I still press the green call button,
but I must now click the Menu task button then press "s" for speed
dial.

On my MDA it's menu "e"- menu "s" is "Save to Contacts."

2.) The Pocket Outlook mail list - When I moved the 6515 joystick up
through my e-mail list, the cursor (actually, it's a highlighted square
shadow that identifies the message you are on) would stop at the top
first e-mail. Now, it just scrolls back to the last e-mail in a never
ending revolution.

I actually like that- it's one of the few improvements to WM5, IMO. I
detest ANY scrolling that stops at top or bottom. I'll accept a "pause"
to indicate top or bottom if I'm holding down the key, but in any menu or
item that might have 100 selections I shouldn't have to scroll down 99 to
get to the bottom, when I could go "up" one!

I'm checking through my e-mails and thinking I'm at
the top, when I'm actually at the bottom. I started sorting the e-mails
thinking they were mis-sorted then really lost my place and had to
re-sort back, figure out where the top e-mail was, etc.

It's pretty obvious in WinMo, IMO. In addition to scroll indicator on he
right side, recent (today's) e-mails display TIME sent, previous days
display DATE sent. If the e-mail shows a date, I know it's "old" even if
I don't remember what today's date is! ;-)

I used to use the joystick to scroll up and down through e-mails in the
WM2003 OL app. It would stop at either the first or last email. I would
click <ok> to go in and out of e-mails.

If "ok" closed the e-mail, how could you dial a number or select an e-
mail or web link without the stylus?

Really stupid ideas in the WM5.

Yeah, I was like you at first too. I hated anything different about WM5.
While I probably still prefer 2003 all around, I've mellowed on WM5.
Now I ask myself "is this really a worse way to do this, or am I hating
it because it's not what I was used to." Like your e-mail scrolling
issue- I NEVER like being "stuck" at the top or bottom of a list. The
change pleases me as much as it PO's you. I'm sure many of the usability
changes have the same effect- some of us cheer, some of us grumble...
