Re: Unable to obtain a server- assigned IP address Try again later or enter an IP address in Network Setting

Have you made any changes to your security settings on your Access Point?
While the AP and PPC radios can connect and show good signal strength, DHCP
requires that the PPC be able to ask for addresses and the DHCP server
(usually your AP/router, or Wireless Router) be able to respond with them.
If the security isn't right, then the request can't get through. Security
problems could be that it got turned on and wasn't before, or that something
happened to change the Key on either the router or PPC. Do you have WEP or
WPA turned on, and do other devices still work? Laptop, something? I am not
sure if when using DHCP that the addresses are actually filled in on the
screen on an HP. Anyone confirm that they normally are?

A good tool to see your settings is vXIPConfig, or vXUtil, both available at
www.cam.com for free.

Problem:
"Unable to obtain a server- assigned IP address Try again later or
enter an IP address in Network Setting"

I am sorry if there is another thread for this topic, I am new here and
still finding my way around the group......

Well... I have the problem above OUT OF THE BLUE!! I did ALL of the
following numerous times:
1. Soft Set
2. Hard Set
3. Router & Wireless Access Point changes - even my security
code..etc.... Reboot...anything pertaining to troubleshooting the
above.
4. Add in an IP Adress to my PDA. Soft Set... Hard Set....I then get a
message that it cannot go on the internet..

Here is the STRANGE thing..... I am looking at my HP Wi-Fi Manager
RIGHT THIS MINUTE and the Status is: CONNECTED... I look further under
"More" and I have a strong signal strength! However... (now back to my
normal way of how I used to go online with my PDA...taking out an IP
Address....) The Network Information DHCP is Enable BUT nothing for the
IP Adress....Subnet...Gateway... and the message appears YET
again...."unable to obtain a server- assigned IP address Try again
later or enter an IP address in Network Setting".

It shows that I am connected to the Acess Point and NO IP!!!!

HELP! I look forward to someone helping me.. I have tried everything
that any boards or forums that I could find online suggested... THANK
YOU

BTW: I have the HP IPAQ 2795, running on Microsoft Mobile 5.0
