What mode are you putting your Garmin in? How do you have it configured?

Good catch... I missed that in the private op which seemed to indicate
that the ppc was seeing data but the protocol was wrong.

When I use an additional null modem I just get a serial timeout without the
protocol message.
Jumping the CTS and RTS and the DCD and DTR gives the same set of results.
Any other suggestions?
