Newbie needs help: Transferring files using MSWord

I have a Compaq HP H3955 pda. I just installed Activesync v 4.2 and
have Windows XP on my desktop computer.

Can I transfer .doc files from my pc to the pda and vice versa? I
can't figure any of this out.

Brand new rookie at all this.

Any help appreciated.
