One last thought- you're using the CDMA version of a PPC phone (as
opposed to my GSM version). Sprint and Verizon are sort of famous for
locking out phone features to increase reliance on their data network.
Is it possible the Wi-Fi and bluetooth network connectivity are limited
in a misguided attempt to get you to use their data service to send
ringtones, photos, etc. to/from your PC rather than your network? I
doubt Verizon or Sprint even have that power over Microsoft and HTC (the
actual manufacturer of the 6700) but I suppose it's possible...
I cannot speak for the Verizon version,, but the Sprint 6700 does not appear
to have a limited WIFI - it seems that it is a standard connection.
Suprisingly mostly the same for the CDMA connection, with the exception of
compression for some known binaries. It might be good to note that Skype
and Slingbox mobile (which directly competes with Sprint products ) works
fine on the Sprint connection. And unlimited EVDO access is only $7/month
if you have another phone with vision - I have used an emabarrasing amount
of bandwidth on the device in a month with no surcharge.
That is, all the above is true for now at least... ;)
