By some stroke of sheer genius (or maybe just a stroke!), the Head High
Muckety-Mucks of security have decided that syncing a PDA to our computers
poses a security risk. Therefore, effective immediately, no PDAs will
connect to computers, and they visit every user showing ActiveSync on
their machine to remove it.
The only thing I can think of doing is somehow converting a Word or Excel
file to a PocketPC version and saving it onto a card which can be inserted
into the PDA. Unfortunately, neither Word nor Excel offer
"PDA-compatible" in their "SaveAs" options. Is there some sort of
converter out there?
If not, has anyone else had to find a way to get a file from your desktop
onto your handheld without sync?
Since PPC 2003 SE forward the built in apps read the desktop versions (XLS,
for example), so anyway that you can get a file to the PPC will work (
Email, IR, Wireless, SD tansfer, bluetooth, etc.) Don't forget that you can
also access network shares (such as from a laptop or otherwise) without the
need for Activesync.
