Re: iPAQ charge/USB cable configuration is reversed.

Should be able too. Give it a try. You can tell by the light, or the battery
screen if it is charging from the USB. Some PPCs have a Charge via USB check
box too. Don't know if yours does. That cable must be a new thing HP is
doing. You used to get a little adapter about an inch long to go between the
wall wart and the PPC. Easy to loose, hard to replace. There are also many
retractable cords available for the HPs. Ziplinq is a popular brand, and you
an find others at PocketPCTechs or

There is an interesting little cable there that indicates sync/charge with a
switch button. Some HPs (notably the 4700 series) had some problems with
some USB implementations that made syncing a bit iffy when you were charging
too. Just a matter of current draw, so they have a switch to do one or the
other on that cable. The USB jacked charger is on that page too.
Don't be concerned about the pictures on
http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=24 they
actually would come with iPAQ connectors if that's what you order. Seidio is
just to lazy, or cheap, to take shots of every different type they sell, so
the pictures are representative. It would come out more like this

Have fun. All of us were newbies at one time. That's why we're here.

Thanks very much for reply.

Uh oh...am I suffering from newbie ignorance?

My iPAQ rx1950 came with two cables.

Only one of those cables plugs into the iPAQ itself, and it's a USB
cable. Additionally, it has a built-in little Y junction.

The second cable is the wall wart cable, and it can plug only into the
first cable's Y junction (not the PPC itself).

I thought the only way to recharge the iPAQ was from the wall.

Are you telling me I can charge the PPC (albeit more slowly) from any
powered-on PC's USB port as well?

If so, 1) that's great, and 2) shoot me for being an idiot savant,
currently evidencing only the first half that characterization.
