Re: ASUS p525 has a SmartPhone keypad with a Touchscreen & runs v5 PPC PhoneEdition!!

That's right Chris!

I had dismissed these as way too big and clunky - I am hoping for
something without a keyboard to appear. My notes (on reflection)
show many guises:
i-Mate JASJAR

T-Mobile MDA Pro,

Vodafone VPA IV,

Orange SPV M5000,

O2 XDA Exec,

Qtek 9000 & v1640,

Dopod 900

Thanks,

Jim

I believe that the HTC Universal is a Windows Mobile 5 VGA
PocketPC Phone
Edition device.
In the UK, one of its guises is the Orange M5000.

But: These do make very big phones! So you might want to make
sure that you
can use proper bluetooth headsets and control it with voice
commands....

I should add that the VGA Loox devices mentioned are not phones
.
. . anyone found a VGA phone?

Also, the ASUS p525 does not seem to be available in our area
(Australia) . . . Are there other devices of this nature about?

Cheers,

The ASUS p525 sounds like an interesting PDA phone . .
It looks like a 'SmartPhone with it's mobile-phone like keypad,
but has a touchscreen and runs v5 Pocket-PC-PhoneEdition!!

Now that *is* an interesting idea!

This could be the ideal new phone for a conventional PPC user
who
can't see the point of holding their PPC to their face to take
a
phone call, thus smearing the display and losing the ability to
see the PPC info!!!
I am one of those and can't part with my 4" VGA (640x480
pixels).
It seems that very few new devices have these beaut screens
that
display four times as much information as the next biggest
(320x240)! Many devices have even less pixels .

. . so I have been looking for an ideal phone to use with a PPC
and an XPP notebook plus desktop.

My HP iPaq hx4700 does not have v5 (and apparently the upgrade
is
very poorly executed . . .). I am worried that using a v5
device
next to a v2003se device may create havoc when synching to the
same computers . . .

The only v5 VGA devices that I have found are the
Fujitsu-Siemens
Loox N560 (624ghz GPS) - 3.5" and Loox C550 (520mhz) - 3.5".

Anyone else struggling with these points of view, or care
to comment?

Cheers,

Jim Kelly
