Re: Setting up a Gmail account on a Qtek device

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Nope, it's a bug with gmail itself and is based on the fact that Messaging
doesn't show past messages not present on the POP3 server any more.

Right now, this bug can't be helped - gmail has always been buggy in this
respect.

The bets solution to avoid the problems resulting from it is switching to an
alternative client that has mail history and, therefore, doesn't suffer from
this bug; for example, FlexMail or Qmail.

I finally got it to work on ipaq 5550.

I tried every variation I could within th elimitations of

the internet via wireless it started to work.

The difficulty now is that when new mail is received or even
if there is no new mail the send / receive process removes
the contents of the inbox on the PPC

Basically I think it is a bit "hit and miss"

Hi, I hope I'm not OT (?) but I've been trying to set up a
new gmail (google
mail) account on a Qtek 2020 (Windows Mobile 2003) and
fore some reason
can't seem to get it to work. I set up 3 different
accounts (pop3) which
work wonderfully but gmail? Nothing. It may be because
gmail, for the
incoming pop3 server and for the outgoing SMTP server,
requires encrypted
connection (SSL) and different server port numbers
(changed manually when
you set up the account on Outlook 2003), but I haven't
found the way to do
this on Pocket Outlook.

I tried writing to Google Mail at gmail.com and they
answered that they can
help me if I have a Blackberry but with a WM PDA...? No
way, but keep using
their email...
Not happy! Please help me??

Thats probably the due to the number of days your device is set to store
messages, mine defaulted to 3 days.
