With alternate sound recorders, you will be. Notes is known to buffer in the
main memory - it's one of its numerous disadvantages.

but to your original question.. Yes you should be able to recorder your
voice notes to the SD card rather than internal memory. If you have set
this option, but it is still not working, try a soft reset and see if that
helps. you may also want to look at some of the other recording programs
that will record in other formats besides WAV (like mp3) you'll be able
to
record for much longer amounts of time, and use far less storage space.
