Help with Wi-Fi connection by new user......

Help!

Im new to Pocket PC's and have been researching them for the last week
before my purchase, it looks like im going to purchase a Dell Axim one(with
built in WiFi).
Having never used a PC on a WiFi connection before im a little confused.

Say if im in an area (Starbucks, airport etc) that im able to log onto their
network, how do i actually do it? Do i have to configure all the settings
like i would my normal ISP acount ? all id want to do would be to log onto
the net and check my e mail bia there website.

Any help would be appreciared, whilst this might seam like a real easy
question to a lot of people ive never done it so know nothing about it
