right, I can't recall now which "flavor" of .TIF it is that's
not supported (has to do with compression scheme used LZW
or other type), I know that 2 of the 3 kinds that my CapShare
produces open OK on the PPC, the other one produces an
error referring to the Unisys nonsense in all the imaging
apps I have on my PPC.

Use your desktop imaging app to view the properties of
the files and compare them.
What is further odd about this is all the TIF files are created on the
same HP scanner......scanjet 4400c

It is the scanner software that is producing the files.

Why would one have an error and not the others?

Because of the compression used...there are at least 5
"flavors" of .TIF files - they use differing compression.

The options I have in Paint Shop Pro when saving .TIF's are"

FAX-CCITT 3
Huffman
LZW
Packbits
Uncompressed

One or more of these uses a scheme that was determined
to infringe some patent Unisys has. Rather than pay royalties,
support for them was simply dropped from PPC image viewers
that use the graphics display .DLL that comes natively with
the device.

If you have IrfanView on your desktop PC,
you can see what type of compression
is used by loading the file and going to Image>>Information.

If you don't have IrfanView, get it here, it's free but you
might want to support the developer with a little $$:
