The person I purchased my x50 bought it and as part of the deal when she
purchased the x50 is supposed to get the WM 5 for free. So I am trying to
track her down.

I upgraded my x50v to WM5 several months ago. Initially I had a few
issues with the upgrade and actually reverted back to WM2003. After doing
some more research, I determined that the issues were really with the way
I did the upgrade, not the upgrade itself. I reinstalled and haven't had
any issues since although there are Dell related issues that need to be
resolved by them on this device/OS combination. Dell has said on numerous
calls to them that they will be providing a ROM update for the x50/WM5
combination but to date have yet to show the goods.

All said, I'm happy with the upgrade although I find that devices built to
run WM5 natively seem to run a bit better. The upgrade is only $40 so it
may be worth a shot to you. The biggest thing I can suggest is take your
time. Also, visit the Windows Mobile 5 Fix site
(http://www.wm5fixsite.com/) as there is a lot of good information
available there.

I am hearing horror stories about Dell not getting WM5 to work with Axim
X50 device. And possibly them not releasing WM5 for the Axim X50.

Anybody heard anything related to this fiasco?
