OK, now where did I put that old cd with the software on it?
Can AS 3.8 still be downloaded from somewhere?
Presumably this will solve my TomTom problem as well?

Yes indeed. Microsoft do not recommend AS4.x for devices pre WM 5.0 . I
would revert to 3.8 .
