Not sure if this is the same issue as you are seeing, but the symptoms are
somewhat similar. My brand new iPAQ rx1950 would lose it's battery charge in
a matter of hours, even when it was "off". I would push the on button, but
it would not turn on. It would also get hot. Turned out that Activesync was
constantly trying to run.
Found another post on this newsgroup that said to workaround the problem,
create a dummy server in Activesync, this would then give you access to the
"Schedule" menu item of activesync where you could set the schedule to
manual. I did this and my battery problems were solved (yeah).
