No, in Europe it's prohibited, and you're told so in the pre-flight
announcements.
I was even stopped from using my PPC AT ALL on one internal UK flight,
because the carrier isn't yet certified to accept transmitting devices
that have a flight mode.

Mark,
Interesting.... I've used many BT devices on flights (usually flying
American) and nobody has said anything to me about it. I have been
asked to make sure that my WiFi is off but I've specifically asked about
BT and was given an ok on it.
Now, I'm by no means suggesting that everyone reading this fire up BT
without making sure it is okay with the flight crew. I'm sure, given 20
little BT clouds on a plane, it could be an issue!
