Generally programs that you run only when you need them, work fine off of a
flash card, TomTom and Codewallet would be like that. Programs that need to
run all the time, even if it isn't quite apparent, like PocketPlus for it's
Today screen activity, and GPRS Monitor because it needs to collect data in
the background, tend to run better out of RAM. Programs that you want to
have restart automatically when you soft reset the PPC, such as
Calligrapher, also like to be in RAM.
This is not hard and fast. SBSH Software (Pocket Breeze, Contact Breeze)
have worked hard at making their Today screen enhancements work off of a
Flash card or out of Built-in-Storage/File Store. The best way to determine
if it will run from a card is to try it. Do a backup before hand, load it
and see. If it doesn't work right, restore and load somewhere else. You can
uninstall, but sometimes it is hard to get it to install to a different
location than you put it the first time.
