When the connection manager detects a dotted ip or FDQN it thinks that you
want to be on the intenet so it will drop the vpn tunnel. The only way to
use ip's or FDQN is to add them to the exceptions list. You could also just
use the netbios names of the computers you want to connect to assuming
that's what you want to connect to.
