The only way you can have a "generic" PPC OS is if
you have nothng but "generic" PPC's.

The current crop is anything but.

Until the PPC OS is completely rewritten, probably
from scratch, to allow a more "desktop like" install
where hardware is detected and relevant drivers installed,
this is what we're stuck with.

And since this scheme would mean that we might hang
on to our hardware longer, therby decreasing sales of
PPC's, it'll probably never happen.

Super-greed rules. And our government does all it can
to protect it.
