Jack,
I have an iPaq 3670 and it works just fine - I use it for GPS navigation,
Wifi and the usual pda stuff. The Activesync software (communicates between
PC & iPaq) that has to be compatible with the PC,s operating system - can't
see why it would not work - There should be updates available anyway for any
Windows system. Not sure if the later versions of Office work with Pocket
Excel, Word & Outlook that can be run on the iPaq 3630.
If the battery is just weak, you can get cheap replacements on eBay - I have
just ordered an expansion sleeve from www.yourmobiledesk.com - The one I
chose has two compact flash slots and a large auxiliary battery for
US$79.00. (Item PIT-60060004). This will allow me to use my GPS or Wifi card
while still having the storage card available to store maps & other data.
Makes the older iPaq,s quite versatile, because then most of the RAM can be
used for programs. (I think that the 3630 has 32meg, while the 3670 has 64.)
If you think you want a pda with accessories like GPS, Wifi and CF storage,
it "might" be worth doing some research to see if there is one with the
functions you want built in.
Good Luck!
