can anyone help clear up just wtf goes on re the pocket pc inbox

Pocket PC 2003 and machine is an HP 2210 (if that makes any
difference)

Pop 3 account - all details entered correctly, I poll for mail the
mail gets retrieved no problem repeat as often as you please no hint
of any problem

couple of days of this predictable behaviour and then wham out of the
blue..

"messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device Make sure you are
connected and that your email settings are correct Then try to
download messages again"

'Make sure you are connected' - yeps Im connected I can surf via PIE
quite happily

'and that your email settings are correct' - yeps settings are fine
ive rechecked and rentered them a dozen times :(

killer is if i create a new account in the inbox app and duplicate ALL
the details from the 'problem' account then it'll happily connect to
that same mail server and download the mail that it has claimed cant
be downloaded by the other account (leaving me with two accounts in
the inbox util and my emails spread accross the two of them grrrrr!!!)

so its not the connection and it isnt the settings.. can anyone tell
me just wtf IS the problem and is it a sufficiently known issue for
any sort of workaround?

(ive been scrupulous in avoiding deleting messages from server as I
know this will clear the inbox and any attempt to restore from a back
up that has messages in the inbox after that will prompt the same
error as above - which suiggest some sort of Inbox account database
screw up on pocket PCs inbox util that makes it think the message info
on mail server and info on that account dont tally? )

I can appreciate this isnt a full fledged email client but Im pretty
much duplicating a typical on the road scenario where Id be using the
pocket PC to poll for mail and leaving deletions from server alone
untill I return If this is as good as the inbox mail stability gets it
doesnt really enthuse me with much confidence in using the device!
