Simple answer really. Windows CE is the core operating system on which the
Pocket PC platform is built. PPC2000 and 2002 were built on top of WinCE
3.x. The current PPCs that run WM2003 are built on WinCE 4.x.
You will be fine with the latest version of Pocket Streets as far as running
is concerned. You should be aware that it has very limited functionality
though, commensurate with the price. Hopefully you are considering buying a
copy of MS Streets and Trips which comes with a copy of Pocket Streets, and
not the stand alone version. You will undoubtedly be pleased with S&T and
not feel you wasted your money.

Pocket Streets is a great electronic map, with a good user interface, lots
of points of interest, and excellent find capabilities. Coupled with a GPS
it will even tell you where you are, given you have the map loaded. That's
about where it ends though. It does not produce routes, can't even download
those built in S&T. It therefore does not provide directions, re-routing,
etc...all those things most folks expect of a PPC mapping program these
days.

Please make sure your needs can be met by what Pocket Streets delivers, and
it may, or we will see you back here angry, or wondering if you just aren't
figuring out how to do something. Chances are it doesn't do that.
