anyone shed any light on what ive done wrong?

inbox util has been set up for a Pop3 account

inbox util bar has been left active on today menu rather than hidden
from its list of items)

inbox is set to poll for mail from the pop server every X minutes

inbox: new email message notify sound has been enabled in
settings/ sound & notifications

the inbox will poll for mail as scheduled, retreive the new emails,
update the status in today (1 unread message 2 unread message etc)
but for life of me I cant get it to notify the presence of new email
by triggering the sound specified

the sound plays just fine when previewed
all oter notifications seem to work just fine (end of active sync
session etc)

Any help appreciated (even nopes it cant be done!) as its beginning to
have me tear my hair out (and im getting fed up composing test
messages for it to receive!)
