Hi,

A while ago we bought an O2 XDA - we chose this PDA because it's one
of the few PDAs that has both GPRS and Bluetooth. We are using a BT
GPS (a Fortuna Clip-On), and after using the bios update from the O2
site and downloading Bluetooth Tools, we were able to use the BT GPS
to communicate with the PDA.

We recently bought an i-mate PDA, which is exactly the same hardware
as the XDA2, just with a different label. The hardware info is:
ROM version : 1.66.00WWE
ROM date : 02/02/04
Radio version: 1.10.00
Protocol version: 1337.18
ExtROM version: 1.66.131

As this is a newer machine, we don't want to 'downgrade' by installing
the old BIOS update. We have installed Bluetooth tools, but cannot get
the GPS and PDa to 'talk'. Bluetooth tools tries to create allocate a
serial port for the GPS, it offers port 7, but using this port (or any
other) we cannot communicate with the GPS. On the older PDA, Bluetooth
Tools offers port 5, over which we can communicate with the GPS fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions how to get the new PDA and GPS to
talk to each other? I think we might try an HP device next time, they
seem to offer much more support for bluetooth devices. I'm not sure
whether the XDA3 will solve this problem, but at the moment we're
stuck with a BT-enabled i-mate that can't talk to our BT GPS!

Thanks,

Kath
