Hi all - having a bit of a skirmish with the nice lads at O2 about a
wonderful new feature of MS's latest exchange server - its called always up
to date (AUTD) and basically its an add on for activesync so a user on a
smartphone/pda connected to the web can collect emails -
the way it works is this (i think)
user can normally connect via hot spot or gprs and then connect to exchange
server and download any new emails, this is all fine except u have no way of
knowing if you have any new emails to collect so it could be a waste of
time/money.
The way AUTD works is this (and its pretty cool) a new email will come in -
the server will see it enter the inbox of the mobile user it will then send
a SMS msg to the smartphone/pda device and tell it that new mail is
waiting - the device will then start downloading the new mail
So to set this up i need to figure out what details to give my server so it
can send this sms to my XDAII and the only info i have to enter is "SMTP
DOMAIN" - so i assume i need to enter in something like
mymobileno@my.provider.co.uk - well im with O2 and they didnt have a clue
what i was on about so im wondering if anyone here uses it in the UK and
what settings they have
Thanks
