Greetings,
I'm having problems getting the IR port to work on my Toshiba e800/e805.
I originally purchased a Stowaway IR folding the keyboard a few months ago,
installed the drivers on my Toshiba from the supplied CD and it worked
perfectly. I used the keyboard for about a month and set it aside.
Since I used the keyboard last, I've since upgraded the original Windows
Mobile 2003 operating system to Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition.
Yesterday I needed to use the keyboard again and when I tried to enable it,
a pop-up dialog box came up which said: "Cannot open infrared port because
it is used by another application" with the two choices to let use the
keyboard coexist with other applications or use the IR port exclusively.
To make a long story short, I tried every possible combination of settings,
soft resets, uninstalling then reinstalling the keyboard drivers, reading
FAQ's on the keyboard manufacturer's web site, but nothing worked.
After uninstalling the keyboard driver, and verifying I have no other
drivers installed that have anything to do with the IR port, further
testing has revealed that the Toshiba IR port isn't working at all...
either sending or receiving. I happen to have an older Cassiopeia PDA with
an IR port which I verified is working properly. The Cassiopeia fails to
detect any IR emission from the Toshiba, nor does the Toshiba receive any
incoming beams from the other PDA.
Can someone else with a Toshiba e800/e805 and WM 2003 SE please verify your
IR port is working? Does anyone have any suggestions I might try? Any
registry checks or hacks (I have Resco registry editor) I might try?
Thanks in advance,
John L.
