I was also a big fan of Dell, but much like Gateway, they seem to have
forgotten what made them such a good company to begin with. Exporting well
paying American jobs and sacrificing customer and technical support is not
the way to get people to buy and use your products.
Now, in an effort to satisfy their corporate customers they are moving some
support back to the US, but that is only for corporate customers. Joe
Schmoo will still be directed to call centers in India.
I can understand the use of call centers in other countries to localize
support for that region. What I can not stand is the use of call centers in
India just to cut costs. When those costs are not really passed on to the
customer from what I can see.
But then this is just me rambling on... It would take a lot more then a
lone voice to change this sort of behavior.
