I've been using a WCF12 in my HP Jornada 548 for months. I access both my
intranet and the internet. Make sure that you installed correctly. Very
first note is: "Do NOT insert the Wireless CompactFlash Card into the PDA.
You must install the Configuration Utility with the driver first."

(I read the instructions after I couldn't get the thing to work;))

Step 1.
A. Connect PDA to PC. Make sure ActiveSync is running. Insert CD, autorun
or run d:\setup.exe.
B. Click the Setup button.
C. Click Next button on InstallShield Wizard screen.
D. Click Yes on License Agreement screen.
E. Click Next button on Choose Destination Location.
F. Choose Infrastructure or Ad-Hoc mode, then click Next.
G1. (Ad-Hoc mode) Pick Channel 6, then click Next.
G2. (Infrastructure mode) Enter SSID, then click Next.
H. Review setting, then click Next.
I. On installing Applications screen, click Yes.
J. When Application downloading Complete screen appears check the PDA to
see if additional steps are necessary (I don't think they are for the HP
Jornada 548). Then click OK.
K. Click Exit on the Congratulations screen.

Step 2.
A. Insert WCF12 into PDA.
B. Specify IP settings.

To create different configurations, Pick Start, then Wireless CF Card
Monitor (or pick Start, then Settings, then System tab, then Wireless CF
Card Monitor.

I've got configurations stored for ad-hoc and infrastructure, so that I can
use my PDA at home and work without having to constantly reconfigure the
settings. Sometimes I have to soft reset when I remove and insert the WCF12
card. The settings remain.

Good luck.
