If you haven't installed 2.1.0.10 OVER 2.1.0.8 it should not create problems according to what he says. His problem was that he installed one over the other, and had to delete the original DB.

    I had it lock up too at exactly the same place. I did a soft reset, but 
    it kept hanging on the boot screen, so a hard reset was the only option.
    This happened after I installed version 2.1.0.10 over 2.1.0.8. I had to 
    make sure I deleted the old .8 newsgroup files before I got it working 
    again.
