You should be able to download your POP email from virtually any point
on the Internet, no matter which ISP or WAP (Wireless Access Point)
provides the connectivity. If you're unable to on your PDA, go through
the configuration carefully and make sure it mirrors your desktop
settings as much as possible. (Paying particular attention to SSL, not
all ISP's support it)
Where it become less straightforward is when _sending_ mail through an
SMTP sever. Many ISP's restrict access to their outbound servers above
and beyond simply requiring a userid and password. In many cases, (not
all) you actually have to be connected to the Internet through _their_
network.
For example... On Road Runner here in New York City, I must have my
Pocket Outlook configured to retrieve inbound email from the
Roadrunner POP server and my outbound email configured to send through
T-Mobile's SMTP server (myemail.t-mobile.com) because that is who's
hotspots I almost always use.
Hope this helps. If not, please post back with specifics.
