I'm using an Ipaq 2210, and have a POP3 account set up in Inbox as well as
the standard ActiveSync email. ActiveSync works fine, and I've been able to
connect to my POP account using bluetooth & a mobile phone & a GPRS
connection, & download headers (I've also got it set to download the first
2K of each message).
However, I can't see the size of the full email. The Inbox line for each
message gives: who it's from, the date or time it was sent, a size which is
just the downloaded size (usually 3K, even when the size of the complete
email may be much larger), and the subject on another line. It's also not
clear when an email has an attachment.
Opening the email gives the first part of the text, and the instructions for
how to download the rest. Tapping the double down-arrow gives some further
information, including "size", but this is just the number of characters in
the downloaded portion. Selecting a message for full download works fine,
even with an attachment. It all comes through, and the size info now shows up
fine in the Inbox line for the message (e.g. 34K), although the size in the
message header itself still gives only the size in characters.
It would be very helpful to know what size a message is and whether it has
an attachment before deciding to download it. The Help files imply that this
is what should show up in the information for each email:
"The size column in the message displays the local size and the server size
of a message."
I think that although it doesn'rt say so this may just apply to IMAP
accounts & not POP.
The other settings that might be relevant: the network used for programs
that should automatically connect to the internet is set to "bluetooth
settings", and in bluetooth settings I've got the GPRS and another ISP that
uses a CSD connection - both these connect file & allow pIE and Inbox to
connect happily. I have nothing under My ISP - I couldn't make that work at
all with Bluetooth and the current setup seems OK.
Any help gratefully received.
